INTERVIEW : CHAD REED RÉPOND À VOS QUESTIONS
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Que penses-tu de la situation économique aux États-Unis et de la position de Christophe Pourcel..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – What do you think about the economic situation in the US and the position of Christophe Pourcel..?
CHAD REED : Hé bien je pense définitivement que les temps sont durs ici en amérique comme partout dans le monde, mais en même temps je pense que les Teams utilisent le mot » économie » comme une excuse pour essayer de moins donner aux Pilotes l’argent qu’ils méritent.. Je sais depuis que j’ai fait la promotion de mon Team et monté mon propre business que les temps ne sont plus aussi bons qu’avant, mais en même temps je pense qu’ils sont mauvais..
CHAD REED : Well I definitely think that times are tough here in America as they are everywhere in the world but at the same time, I feel like maybe the teams are using the word “economy” as an excuse to try and get out of paying the riders the money they deserve. I know from having my hand in the promoting business and now the team ownership business that times aren’t as good as before but at the same time, I think that they are that bad.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : As-tu pensé demander à Christophe Pourcel de venir te rejoindre au sein de ton Team..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Did you think to ask to Christophe Pourcel to come and join you in your team..?
CHAD REED : Non je ne l’ai jamais fait à ce jour.. Mon Team était « juste pour moi » pour plusieurs raisons.. Je n’ai rien contre Christophe, mais je ne suis pas encore prêt à avoir un coéquipier.. Laissez-moi rouler ma première saison « à mon compte » et je vous en dirai plus.. ! Je souhaite à Pourcel de trouver un guidon rapidement et que nous le voyons sur la piste..
CHAD REED : No I never did actually. My team was always just going to be me for a number of reasons. It’s nothing against Christophe but I’m not ready to have a teammate quite yet. Let me get through this first season and I’ll let you know ! I do hope that Pourcel gets a ride here shortly and we see him out on the track.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : Pourquoi as-tu mis autant de temps pour trouver un Team et monter le tien (des raisons économiques..?)..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Why did you put/take so long to find/fund a good team..? (Economic reasons..?)
CHAD REED : Hé bien j’ai réalisé que je ne voulais pas me mettre dans la même situation que l’année passée.. Je voulais rouler et essayer une Honda en premier et avant tout discuter avec certains Teams avant de suivre mon propre chemin.. J’ai pensé que j’avais un ou deux deals de presque conclus à différents points mais ils ont échoué.. À la fin, je voulais rouler une Honda et nous avons fait en sorte que cela arrive à ma façon..
CHAD REED : Well I realized that I didn’t want to put myself in the same situation as last year. I wanted to ride a Honda first and foremost and I’d been talking to other teams for a while before deciding to go my own way. I thought I had a couple of deals done at different points but they fell through. In the end, I wanted to ride a Honda and we made it happen my way.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : Penses-tu avoir les mêmes moyens pour être devant que Stewart ou Dungey..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Do you think you have the same means to be first than Stewart or Dungey..?
CHAD REED : Oui absolument.. Je pense que ma machine est aussi bonne que les leurs.. J’ai derrière moi de grandes compagnies comme Pro Circuit et une Honda.. Quelque soit ce dont j’avais besoin, je pouvais aller acheter ce que je voulais ou avoir ce dont j’avais besoin, les machines (stocks..) marchent tellement bien aujourd’hui que tu peux réaliser une machine compétitive avec une machine presque « stock » facilement.. Un autre avantage que j’ai c’est que je connais les machines de James et Dungey pour les avoir roulées et je connais donc leurs points forts et leurs faiblesses..
CHAD REED : Yeah, absolutely, I think that my bike is as good as theirs. I have great companies like Pro Circuit behind me and a Honda. Whatever I needed I could go out and buy or get made, the bikes are so good these days that you can make a production bike real good. Another advantage I have is I know what James is riding and Dungey as well having been there and I know what their strengths and weaknesses are.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : Pourquoi as-tu choisi de rouler Honda..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Why did you choose to ride Honda..?
CHAD REED : Quand j’ai été entre les contrats après L & M, je suis allé chez un dealer et j’ai acheté une Honda.. Je l’ai roulé un moment ici et là et j’ai ensuite signé avec Suzuki et Kawasaki mais j’avais toujours la Honda et je roulais avec lorsque je me suis retrouvé hors contrats.. Je l’apprécie vraiment et j’ai donc voulu essayé la nouvelle génération de Motos.. Honda était génial, ils m’ont apporté une machine et laissé l’essayer et ce fût vraiment bien pour être honnête.. Je suis heureux d’être un Pilote « Red Rider » (Honda..)..!
CHAD REED : When I was in between contracts after L&M, I went to a dealer and bought a Honda. I rode it for a little while here and there and then signed with Suzuki and then Kawasaki but I always had the Honda and rode it when I was out of deals. I really liked it and wanted to try the new generation of bikes. Honda was great, they brought a bike out for me to try and it was really good to be honest. I’m glad I’m a red rider..!
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : As-tu essayé la KTM..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Did you try a KTM..?
CHAD REED : J’ai essayé la 350 parce qu’ils ont montré de l’intérêt pour moi, mon ancien manager Roger De Coster fût là également.. Il n’y avait rien de mauvais avec la machine, mais je ne me suis pas senti comme je le souhaitais dans ce que je recherche dans une machine..
CHAD REED : I did ride a 350 because they showed some interest in me and as well, my old manager Roger DeCoster went over there. There was nothing wrong with the bike but I just didn’t feel like it suited what I wanted in a bike.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : Après tant d’années en Motocross et Supercross, quels sont tes espoirs et motivations pour « Two Two Motorpsorts »..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – After so many years in Motocross and Supercross what are your hopes and motivations for « Two Two Motorsports »..?
CHAD REED : Je prépare ce Team afin de le continuer après ma retraite en tant que Pilote.. J’aimerais avoir un Team et engager des Pilotes afin de tenter de remporter des championnats.. Pour l’instant je roule pour moi mais qui sait, peut-être aurai-je un coéquipier plus loin « sur la route »..
CHAD REED : I’m setting this team up to keep going after I retire. I’d like to just have a team and hire the riders to go out there and try to win championships. For now though, I’m going to ride for myself and who knows, maybe I’ll hire a teammate down the road.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : Penses-tu toujours à la retraite..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Do you still think about retirement..?
CHAD REED : Pas du tout, je suis prêt à y aller et gagner.. J’adore tout ce qui touche à la compétition et j’ai la pêche pour aller au combat et rouler sur des Motos..
CHAD REED : Not at all, I’m ready to go out there and win. I love everything about competing and I have got my fire back to go out there and race motorcycles.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : Pourions-nous te revoir en GP’s un jour..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – Could we see you back in Motocross GP’s one day..?
CHAD REED : Non je ne le pense pas.. Ellie (sa femme..) et moi sommes allés aux États-Unis comme des enfants et je m’y sens comme si nous y avions grandi.. Je regarde la période des GP’s avec nostalgie mais aujourd’hui je suis heureux d’être ici en amérique..
CHAD REED : No, I don’t think so. Ellie (his wife) and I went over there as kids and I really felt like we grew up over there. I look back fondly on my time over there but for now, I’m happy being here in America.
PREMIERMOTOCROSS : Tu tweets plsuieurs fois par jour, pourrait-on voir arriver la même télé-réalité que James Stewart te concernant..?
PREMIERMOTOCROSS – You tweet many times a day, could we see you one day in a real TV like James Stewart..?
CHAD REED : Non je ne pense pas que ce soit dans mes cordes.. J’apprécie de conserver ma vie privée et je ne veux donc pas faire quelque chose comme ça.. « Il ne faut jamais dire jamais..! »
CHAD REED : No I don’t think that’s up my alley. I enjoy my privacy and I don’t want to do something like that. Never say never though !
