OUVERTURE DU CHAMPIONNAT D’EUROPE EMX2 EN ESPAGNE : RÉSULTATS
BUTRON OLIVA NEW LEADER OF THE EMX-2 EUROPEAN CHAMPIONSHIP
The opening of the EMX-2 European Championship was held today in Talavera de la Reina (Spain) in front of estimated 10000 spectators on a warm and sunny day. Track in perfect conditions. In Saturday’s Qualifying Practices, among 70 participants, the pole position went to the Spanish rider Jose Antonio Butron Oliva, in front of three young French riders : Cedric Soubeyras, Loic Rombaut and Loic Larrieu. 40 riders qualified for the Sunday competition, while it was made also a race for non qualified riders with 20 Participants and the following results : first the Swedish J. Dahlgren, followed by Finnish H. Kullas and Austrian A. Schmidinger.
The first race was characterised by strong fights among first positions. It was a very spectacular competition with the first 15 riders within one minute ! At the end there were two French riders and one Spanish rider on the podium. The winner was the French Valentin Teillet (KTM) in front of the Spanish Jose Antonio Butron Oliva (Yamaha) and the French Loic Larrieu (Kawasaki). In the second race, the local matador Jose Antonio Butron Oliva dominated the competition and won it with distance to the second placed Arnaud Tonus (KTM) from Switzerland, who also did a perfect race. The young Italian Marco Maddi (KTM) was much better in the second heat than in the first and on the finish line he was very close to Tonus with some distance to the fourth classified the Italian Gianluca Martini. The provisional rankings after this first event see first position of Jose Antonio Butron Oliva with 47 points, followed by Valentin Teillet with 40 points and Arnaud Tonus with 34 points.
The next event is scheduled next Sunday on the 13 th of April in Castelnau de Levis (France).
