ENDURO MONDIAL – WEC : GP SWEDEN DAY 2
100% FINLANDE
Avec de profondes ornières dans la neige, les spéciales du GRAND PRIX MAXXIS DE SUEDE se sont transformées en véritables champs de bataille lors de cette deuxième journée de course. Dans ces conditions typiques d’un winter enduro suédois, les pilotes latins ont une fois encore tenu la dragée haute aux scandinaves, même si Suédois et surtout Finlandais occupent le haut du tableau. Les voisins finlandais Mika Ahola, Juha Salminen, Samuli Aroet Roni Nikander se sont montrés les plus rapides sur le sol gelé d’Östersund.
ENDURO 1
(ALBERGONI Simone)
L’éclatante victoire de Mika AHOLA (FIN-HON) hier ne laissait pas l’ombre d’un doute sur ses ambitions ce deuxième jour. Nettement au-dessus du lot en E1, avec 1 minute 44 secondes d’avance, le Finlandais s’offre une deuxième victoire consécutive, et ramasse un maximum de points avant une tournée Portugal-Espagne plus délicate. De son côté, Ivan CERVANTES (ESP-KTM), l’un des grands déçus de la veille, a pris son destin en main dès les premiers chronos. L’Espagnol offre un tout autre visage que le samedi, il termine deuxième devant Simone ALBERGONI (ITA-YAM).
Ivan CERVANTES : « Hier j’ai commis une erreur dès la première spéciale. J’ai essayé de remonter mais c’était trop difficile et je termine 6 ème . Aujourd’hui, c’est une journée complètement différente. Je me suis levé avec la volonté de rouler de manière régulière, sans commettre d’erreur. Je termine 2 ème et pour moi ce résultat est synonyme de victoire, car il est impossible de battre Mika Ahola ici. C’est un résultat parfait pour le championnat. »
Huitième, Bartosz OBLUCKI (POL-HVA) a été victime d’une chute à grande vitesse en liaison, il est parvenu à terminer la course avec une main blessée.Touché à la hanche, Tom SAGAR (GB-KTM) n’a pas pris le départ de l’épreuve.
ENDURO 2
(Johnny AUBERT)
Probablement vexé par sa troisième place d’hier, Juha SALMINEN (FIN-KTM) a tenu à rectifier le tir. Dès la première spéciale, le champion du monde de l’E1 prend les commandes de la catégorie pour ne plus les lâcher de la journée.
Juha SALMINEN : « La journée était pratiquement la même, mais moi j’ai roulé différemment. Hier je n’ai jamais trouvé le rythme, j’étais comme endormi. Aujourd’hui j’ai su réagir, il me reste encore quelques points à améliorer mais je suis assez content de moi. À chaque course, je devrais m’améliorer. »
21 secondes derrière Salminen, sans pour autant lui avoir contesté la moindre spéciale, Joakim LJUNGGREN (SWE-HSB) termine deuxième et conserve les commandes de la catégorie. Le premier pilote non scandinave de l’E2 est le français Johnny AUBERT (FRA-YAM). Comme son coéquipier Albergoni en E1, il fait plus que limiter les dégâts en se positionnant parmi les meilleurs. Aux 4 ème et 5 ème places suivent les finlandais Valterri SALONEN (FIN-HSB) et Jari MATTILA(FIN-HON).
ENDURO 3
D’une journée sur l’autre, Samuli ARO (FIN-KTM) réalise une course empreinte de régularité et de sérénité. Pour son retour au 2 temps, le Finlandais a tout de suite trouvé ses marques dans la catégorie, il s’impose avec 37 secondes d’avance. Derrière lui, trois pilotes se sont bagarrés toute la journée, jusque dans la dernière portion chronométrée. Deuxième, Marko TARKKALA (FIN-KTM) signe la plus belle remontée du jour. Troisième, Bjorne CARLSSON (SWE-HSB) a cédé du terrain au Finlandais systématiquement dans l’Enduro Test.
Anders ERIKSSON (SWE-BMW) offre une encourageante 4 ème place à BMW, même si le Suédois aurait pu entrevoir meilleure issue. Notez que son résultat de la veille a finalement été validé, et sa disqualification annulée, suite à une décision tardive du jury. Cinquième, Sébastien GUILLAUME (FRA-HVA) préserve le maximum de points en attendant un terrain plus à son avantage au Portugal.
JUNIOR
Au terme d’une course très mouvementée, la dernière spéciale en ligne a départagé les Juniors. Chez les moins de 21 ans, Roni NIKANDER (FIN-KTM) bousculé parvient à s’imposer une seconde fois. Thomas OLDRATI (ITA-KTM), plus rapide sur ce tracé défoncé, coiffe au poteau Marc BOURGEOIS (FRA-HVA), troisième pour trois centièmes d’écart. Outre le BMW MOTORRAD XTREME TEST AWARDS, dominé par Mika Ahola, le MAXXIS FIM WEC propose cette année une nouvelle compétition. L’HUSQVARNA JUNIOR TROPHY récompense le meilleur pilote d’une machine 2 temps dans la catégorie Junior. Aujourd’hui, Thomas Oldrati succède au vainqueur d’hier, Marc Bourgeois.
À peine le temps de souffler et le WEC repart en direction de la Péninsule Ibérique pour la traditionnelle tournée, avec le GRAND PRIX POLISPORT DUPORTUGAL, les 29 et 30 mars à Vale de Cambra.

With deep ruts in snow, the special tests of this GRAND PRIX MAXXIS OF SWEDEN were sometimes transformed into a battlefield on this second day of race. Under these typical winter enduro conditions, Latin riders managed to fight against Scandinavians, even if Swedes and especially Finns invaded the top of the standings. The Finnish neighbours Mika Ahola, Juha Salminen, Samuli Aro and Roni Nikander were the fastest on Östersund cold ground.
ENDURO 1
Mika AHOLA’s (FIN-HON) ambition today was clearly the same than yesterday. With a 1 minute 44 seconds advance, the Finn signs a second victory and collects a maximum of points before a delicate trip in Portugal and Spain. On his hand, Ivan CERVANTES (ESP-KTM) decided to react after a bad first day. The Spaniard offers a brand new face, and finishes second in front of Simone ALBERGONI (ITA-YAM).
Ivan CERVANTES: « Yesterday I made a mistake in the first test. Then I tried to push but everybody is fast in the category, and I had to satisfy with the 6 th position. Today was completely different. I tried to ride without making errors, being more regular. I finish second, and for me this result is like a victory, because it’s impossible to beat Mika Ahola here. It’s a perfect result for the championship.”
Eighth, Bartosz OBLUCKI (POL-HVA) was victim of a high-speed crash on the trail, he managed to finish the race with an injured hand. Touched to the hip,Tom SAGAR (GB-KTM) did not start this morning.
ENDURO 2
Probably upset by his third place of yesterday, Juha SALMINEN (FIN-KTM) reacted impressively today. From the first lap, the E1 world champion took thelead of the class.
Juha SALMINEN: « The day was nearly the same one, but I rode differently. Yesterday I never found the rhythm, I was sleepy. Today I wanted to react. There are still some points in my riding I have to improve, but I’m happy. Eachrace, I should improve.”
21 seconds behind Salminen, Joakim LJUNGGREN (SWE-HSB) finishes second but he did not steal any test to the Finnish. However, Ljunggren is still the leader of the category. The first non-Scandinavian rider is French Johnny AUBERT (FRA-YAM). Like his team mate Albergoni in E1, he makes more thanlimiting the damage, by positioning among the best pilots. To 4 th and 5 th places follow Finns Valterri SALONEN (FIN-HSB) and Jari MATTILA (FIN-HON).
ENDURO 3
From one day to the other, Samuli ARO (FIN-KTM) signs a race impressed of regularity and serenity. For his return to 2 strokes, the Finn immediately found his marks in the category, he imposes himself with a 37 seconds advance.
Behind him, three riders fought all the day, until in the last timed portion.
Second, Marko TARKKALA (FIN-KTM) realizes the most important progression of the day. Third, Bjorne CARLSSON (SWE-HSB) yielded seconds to the Finn systematically in the Enduro Test. Anders ERIKSSON (SWE-BMW) offers an encouraging 4 th place to BMW, even if the Swede could have foreseen betterend. Note that the jury finally cancelled his disqualification yesterday. Fifth, Sebastien GUILLAUME (FRA-HVA) preserves the maximum points, while waiting for a more advantageous ground in Portugal.
JUNIOR
At the end of a very animated race, the last Enduro Test decided between the Juniors. In the less than 21 years class, snow specialist Roni NIKANDER (FIN-KTM) doubles his win. Thomas OLDRATI (ITA-KTM), faster in the ruts, manages to beat Marc BOURGEOIS (FRA-HVA) for three hundredths. In addition to the BMW MOTORRAD XTREME TEST AWARDS, dominated by Mika Ahola, the 2008 MAXXIS FIM WEC proposes this year a new competition. The HUSQVARNA JUNIOR TROPHY rewards the best 2 strokes rider of the Junior category. Today, Thomas Oldrati succeeds yesterday winner, Marc Bourgeois.The WEC already took the direction of the Iberian Peninsula for the traditional round, with the GRAND PRIX POLISPORT OF PORTUGAL, March the 29 th and 30 th in Vale de Cambra.
