ENDURO MONDIAL : WEC – GP OF SWEDEN PREVIEW
LA NEIGE SUÉDOISE POUR COMMENCER
Comme chaque année depuis trois saisons, les meilleurs pilotes d’enduro du monde s’apprêtent à partir en classe de neige. En effet, le GRAND PRIX MAXXIS DE SUÈDE ouvrira dans une semaine le premier des huit volets du MAXXIS FIM WEC.
En trois éditions, cet enduro dans la neige est passé du statut d’épreuve exotique à celui de véritable classique incontournable du WEC, au même titre que la manche suédoise du championnat du mondedes rallyes. Östersund et ses 53.000 habitants, situés en plein milieu de la Suède, s’apprêtent donc à accueillir la crème de l’enduro mondial pour une course déterminante. Redouté par les pilotes du sud de l’Europe, attendu parles Suédois et leurs voisins finlandais, ce winter d’enduro suscite de plus en plus d’intérêt. Chez les concurrents, il y a ceux qui ont particulièrement travaillé le pilotage dans la neige, notamment le cas des Français qui se sont offert unstage en altitude, et ceux qui fuient cet élément tel un cauchemar, en préférant se tourner vers des étapes portugaises et espagnoles très proches.
Aux dernières nouvelles en provenance d’Östersund, il y aurait actuellement plus de neige que lors des éditions précédentes, mais les températures relativement clémentes, autour de 0°C, ramollissent ce manteau pendant la journée. Peu d’infos ont filtré sur le tracé d’Östersund. Avec l’arrivée de nouveaux organisateurs, un parcours entièrement remanié sera proposé. Particularité de cette course, le paddock se situera dans un hangar chauffé, du côté de l’aéroport. Chaussés de pneus à clous, les 107 pilotes inscrits partiront à la découverte d’une boucle qui les conduira notamment sur l’épaisse glace du lac de Storsjön, où ils disputeront la Spéciale Extrême. Ce cadre inédit servira notamment de théâtre à la première manche du BMW MOTORRAD XTREM TEST AWARDS, deuxième du nom. Comme l’année dernière, cette compétition récompense le meilleur pilote dans les ExtremeTests toutes catégories confondues. Le lauréat 2007, Mika AHOLA (FIN-HON) fait déjà figure de favori pour conserver son titre. En ENDURO 1 également, le pilote HM Honda est certainement le plus expérimenté dans la neige. Mais ses débuts chaotiques au guidon de la 250 4T en championnat d’Italie laissent entrevoir quelques hésitations. Une aubaine pour Ivan CERVANTES (ESP-KTM), qui est peut-être le pilote « latin » le plus rapide sur cette surface. Parmi les déçus de l’édition 2007, Simone ALBERGONI (ITA-YAM) et Marc GERMAIN (FRA-YAM) se sont spécialement entraînés. L’Italien a fourni un travail foncier en salle de sport pendant l’hiver. Le Français quant à lui est déjà en Suède pour préparer l’événement, réglersa moto et découvrir de nouvelles sensations de pilotage. En E1 comme dans les autres catégories, les « wild-cards » peuvent créer la surprise. Il faudra donc particulièrement surveiller Fredrik GEORGSSON (SWE-KTM) et Niklas GUSTAFSSON (SWE-HON).
SALMINEN ET LJUNGGREN ATTENDUS
En spécialiste de la neige, comme d’ailleurs de toutes les surfaces, Juha SALMINEN (FIN-KTM) sera l’homme à battre en ENDURO 2. Autre certitude,Johnny AUBERT (FRA-YAM) ne le laissera pas respirer. Le duel entre les deux hommes est très attendu, et il commencera dès ce Grand Prix suédois. Joakim LJUNGGREN (SWE-HSB) pourrait bien s’intercaler entre les deux hommes. Le double champion du monde junior fait son entrée dans la courdes grands, sur son terrain de jeu favori. Dans le froid, il y a également fort à parier sur les voisins Finlandais Valterri SALONEN (FIN-HSB) et Jari MATTILA (FIN-HON). Notons que la présence de Mickaël PICHON (FRA-KTM) reste incertaine. Le double champion du monde de Motocross souffre de douleurs persistantes à la main.
En ENDURO 3, à trop se focaliser sur la bataille rangée entre Samuli ARO (FIN-KTM), Marko TARKKALA (FIN-KTM), Stefan MERRIMAN (AUS-APR) et Sébastien GUILLAUME (FRA-HVA), on en aurait presque oublié le retour en flammes d’Anders ERIKSSON (SWE-BMW) au guidon de la nouvelle BMW. En vieux renard du WEC, le roi Anders nous réserve peut-être une belle surprise, tout comme son compatriote Björne CARLSSON (SWE-HSB). Au guidon de la GasGas officielle, Christophe NAMBOTIN (FRA-GAS) entrera en Suède de plain-pied dans la catégorie Senior. Enfin, ils seront 40 juniors prêts à en découdre. Autour de Marc BOURGEOIS(FRA-HVA), Thomas OLDRATI (ITA-KTM) et Mirko GRITTI (ITA-BETA) les pronostics vont bon train. THE WEC STARTS WITH THE TRADITIONNAL WINTER ENDURO
Like the past two years, the world best enduro riders are going to meet for their annual snow camp. Indeed, the GRAND PRIX MAXXIS OF SWEDEN will open in one week the first of the eight rounds of 2008 MAXXIS FIM WEC. For three editions, this snow enduro passed from the statute of unusual contest to inevitable classical event of the WEC, as the Swedish round of world rally championship. Östersund and its 53.000 inhabitants, located in the reallymiddle of Sweden, are ready to welcome the world of enduro for adetermining race. Dreaded by the riders from Southern Europe, awaited by the Swedes and their Finnish neighbours, this winter enduro rouses an increasing interest. Among the pilots, there are those who worked particularly snow riding, as the French class who trained in the Alps Mountains, and those who flee this element such as a nightmare. According to the locals, there isnow more snow in Östersund than last year, but the relatively mild temperatures, around 0°C, softened the snow coat during the day. A few information filtered about Östersund layout, but with the involvement of new organizers, it is a completely new track that will be proposed this year. As a characteristic of this race, the paddock will be located in a heated hangar, close to the airport.
